Atty. Ralph Sarmiento posted on his Facebook account the latest updates for the 2016 bar examinations.
Preliminary matters discussed by the Philippine Association of Law Schools (PALS) Committee on Bar Examinations with Associate Justice Velasco and Atty. Cristina Layusa re: 2016 Bar Examinations:
- The 2016 Bar exams will be held in November 2016 at UST.
- The Bar exams will consist of all essay questions. Around 20 questions will be asked per subject.
- Cut-off for jurisprudence: Cases as of May 31, 2015 (not May 31, 2016)
- E-filing of Bar exam applications will be optional this year.
- For schools following the regular academic calendar, the filing period will be from June 1 to July 31, 2016.
- For schools using the new academic calendar, the filing period will be from June 1 to August 15, 2016.
- Only 1 testimonial of good moral character will be required (instead of the previous requirement of 3 testimonials).
- Applicants with pending cases are required to attach the relevant documents for clarification.
- Pregnant applicants are requested to indicate this in their petition so this can be factored into the room assignments.
- The Bar exam fee is P3,500.00 for first-takers, with an additional P200 for each re-take.
- Personnel from the Court of Appeals will be deputized to receive applications and payments in the Visayas (Cebu City) and Mindanao (Cagayan de Oro).
